Chuckie Dreyfus opens up on why he took a break from showbiz

Chuckie Dreyfus stepped out of the limelight for around 15 years after rising to fame as a child actor and joining "That's Entertainment."

On Wednesday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the actor opened up on why he took a break from show business.

Chuckie said there had been a transition in his career from a child actor to a grown-up.

"Di ma-accept ng tao na nagma-mature na ko and I was actually, you know, doing mature roles. Pero sa isip ng tao child actor pa rin ako," he said.

"Hindi maseryoso, so might as well magpahinga ng konti," he added.

Chuckie, however, actually stayed in the showbiz industry during his years of hiatus.

"I put up a recording studio. I started doing music for movie and TV, musical directing," he said. "So I never really left, I just went behind the camera."

Chuckie starred with Rudy Fernandez in the 1984 film "Idol" when he was 10 years old.

He later got into a love team with the late actress Isabel Granada, doing films like "Magic to Love" and "Lessons in Love."

Chuckie returned to the limelight when he joined the "Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Doubles Showdown" in 2012.

Currently, he plays Dr. Ray Meneses in the hit GMA Afternoon Prime series "Abot-Kamay na Pangarap" starring Jillian Ward.
