Ruru Madrid, Katrina Halili, Joem Bascon undergo mixed martial arts training for ‘The Black Rider’

The cast members of “The Black Rider,” are working extra hard as they undergo intense training for the action-packed series!

According to Cata Tibayan’s report on “24 Oras,” Friday, Ruru Madrid, Katrina Halili, Joem Bascon, and other cast members of the upcoming series are undergoing mixed martial arts training.

Ruru shared that this is the most intense action project that he has done so far.

“Black rider yung pinakama-action na maituturing ko dahil nung binasa ko pa lang yung script,  actually nung pinitch pa lang nila sa akin, nung sinabi nila sa ’kin na it’s gonna be pure action,” the Kapuso actor said. “So kahit pagsamasamahin nyo lahat ng projects na nagawa ko at gawing isa, parang eto yung kalalabasan, ganun kabigat.”

For the series, Ruru also took motocross training for the series.

Meanwhile, Katrina, who is making her action series comeback, noted that she feels pressured by the role that she will play.

“Kasi yung role ko, magaling eh, magaling na assassin, so pressure on me. So kailangan ko talaga mag-train,” Katrina said.

Joem, on the other hand, feels excited to be doing his first action series.

“Mahal na mahal ng mga Pilipino ang action,” he said, adding that he is “happy working with the young ones.”

Earlier this month, the Kapuso Action Drama Prince who starred in "Lolong" expressed his gratitude that he was given the role.

Ruru also said that it is a huge honor to work with actors he looks up to.

He most recently starred in “The Write One” alongside real-life girlfriend, Bianca Umali.

Among his most memorable shows include “Lolong” and the “Encantadia” remake. He stars in the upcoming film “Video City” opposite Yassi Pressman. — Carby Basina/BAP, GMA Integrated News
