At GTV 'It's Showtime' signing, Ogie Alcasid's words tug at the heartstrings

"It's Showtime" and GTV officially signed a contract on Wednesday with GMA Network and ABS CBN executives at the helm.

"It's Showtime" hosts Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Jhong Hilario, Kim Chiu, Amy Perez, Ogie Alcasid, Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz, Ryan Bang, Ion Perez, MC, Lassy, Jackie Gonzaga, and Cianne Dominguez were present at the monumental event held at Seda Vertis North.

A lot of them said a few words, addressing and thanking both the Kapuso and Kapamilya bosses, with Ogie Alcasid's particularly tugging at the heartstrings.

In his speech, Ogie shared how he decided to rebook a flight as he wanted to be at the signing and see both sets of his bosses. The singer harked back to his time as a Kapuso before he became a Kapamilya.

"I wanted to be here today for many reasons, one of which, gustong-gusto ko makita ang mga dati kong boss," Ogie began. "Yung Ninong ko po, si Atty. Gozon, ang kumpare ko po, si Mr. Duavit, and mga boss ko. I wanted to see you again."

"It's refreshing to see you and it's really nice to see you," he added.

According to Ogie, he also wanted to see his current Kapamilya bosses "kasi sila po ang nakikipaglaban para sa lahat ng mga Kapamilya— sa amin, sa mga talent, sa lahat ng binanggit ni Vice, 'yung madlang pipol na sumasabay sa aming lahat kung saan man kami magpunta."

Ogie said it was an event he didn't want to miss. "I'm sure narinig niyo na 'yung kasabihang, 'maliit lang naman ang industriya natin. Nagkikita-kita lang rin naman tayo.' And today proves that," he said.

"But I believe that more because talagang maliit ang mundo natin, sapagkat may mga taong malalaki ang mga puso tulad po ninyo, na nag-welcome sa amin."

"Sa aming mga Kapuso, salamat po sa pag-welcome ninyo sa aming mga Kapamilya," he said, with some of the executives wiping away tears.

The GTV 'It's Showtime' signing event saw Anne and Kim turning emotional, too, as the head honchos of both networks gave their rousing speeches

GMA chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon declared "TV war is over," while ABS CBN exec Carlo Katigbak thanked GMA for their kindness.

With Gozon were GMA Network Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide and Support Group, and President and CEO of GMA Films Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, President and COO Jimmy Duavit Jr., and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong.

With Katigbak meanwhile were ABS CBN Chairman Mark L. Lopez, COO for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, and Officer-in-Charge of Finance Group Paul Piedad were also in attendance.

"It's Showtime" will premiere on GTV July 1 at 11:30am, after which it will air from Monday to Saturday on GTV at 12nn. — LA, GMA Integrated News
