Paolo Contis says new 'Eat Bulaga' hosts can't replace TVJ
Paolo Contis said he and fellow "Eat Bulaga" hosts Betong Sumaya and Buboy Villar are not replacing Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon.
In Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," Monday, Paolo said they were honored to be chosen to continue the show following the departure of TVJ and the other hosts.
They were joined by Mavy Legaspi, Cassy Legaspi, and Alexa Miro as new hosts as "Eat Bulaga" returned live on air on Monday.
"S'yempre lilinawin lang naman natin, walang planong palitan, wala kaming chance palitan si Tito, Vic and Joey. Wala kaming chance dun," he said.
"We were just called to work, to continue the show because ang gusto ng TAPE office na makapagbigay ng papremyo every day."
Paolo said the new hosts take it as their responsibility to give their 100% on the show.
"I hope you give us a chance kasi at the end of the day pinatawag kami para tumulong sa tao, makapagpasaya ng tao. How can you say no to that?" he said.
Tito, Vic, and Joey announced that they were leaving TAPE Incorporated, the producer of "Eat Bulaga," last Wednesday. Maine Mendoza, Ryan Agoncillo, Paolo Ballesteros, and the other hosts followed suit.
In a statement, GMA Network said "we are saddened" by the turn of events while TAPE said it was "unfortunate but life must go on."
GMA Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes also said the network had no control over the situation, as it was an internal issue between TAPE and TVJ.
