GMA shows, personalities score wins at Gandingan Awards 2023
GMA Network programs and personalities dominated the Gandingan Awards 2023, organized by the University of the Philippines (UP) Community Broadcasters’ Society.
This year’s awarding ceremony was held on Saturday at UP Los Baños with the theme, “Kabuhayan, Buhay ng Bayan.”
GMA Network received a total of 20 awards, with Atom Araullo winning Best News Anchor for GTV’s “State of the Nation" and the Most Development-Oriented Photograph/Photo Story for “Letter from Tawi-Tawi."
"The Atom Araullo Specials: Mata sa Dilim" was named the Most Development-Oriented Documentary Program.
Reporter’s Notebook won the Most Development-Oriented Investigative Story for "Hapag: Mga Kwento ng Huli at Ani, Reporter's Notebook Election Special," while "I-Juander" was awarded the Most Development-Oriented Magazine Program.
The Most Gender Transformative Program was “I Witness: Transnene,” and the Most Development-Oriented Environment Program was “Born To Be Wild: Born to be Kings.”
Mel Tiangco won the Gandingan ng Kababaihan for “24 Oras”, while Susan Enriquez was awarded the Gandingan ng Kabuhayan (Special Citation).
GMA Entertainment Group's primetime masterpiece "Maria Clara at Ibarra" (MCI) was awarded the Most Development-Oriented Educational Program and Most Development-Oriented Drama Program.
MCI star Julie Anne San Jose won the Most Development-Oriented TV Plug for “Tayong Dalawa” under "Limitless, A Musical Trilogy," and the Most Development-Oriented Musical Segment/ Program for “Limitless: Breath.”
In the AM radio category, Super Radyo dzBB’s “Kurtesiya na, Disiplina pa” was named the Most Development-Oriented Radio Plug, while “Saksi sa Dobol B” won the Most Development-Oriented AM Program.
The Most Participatory Program was awarded to dzBB’s “Anong Say Nyo: 4Ps or Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.”
Melo Del Prado was named Best AM Radio Program Host, and Isa Avendaño-Umali was recognized as Best Field Reporter.
For the FM radio category, DWLS Barangay LS. 97.1 received the Most Development-Oriented FM Station award and the Most Development-Oriented Radio Drama award for “Barangay Love Stories.” —VBL, GMA Integrated News
