Lani Mercado hand-picked Beauty Gonzalez for 'Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis' sitcom

Beauty Gonzalez is stepping into the role originally played by Congresswoman Lani Mercado in "Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis."

Lani starred opposite her husband, Senator Bong Revilla, in the iconic '90s film, which will be reimagined as a sitcom.

In Nelson Canlas's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Bong said his wife personally chose Beauty Gonzalez to portray the role.

"Sabi niya, 'O heto gusto ko, magaling na artista," he said.

Beauty said the role was challenging and at the same time fun.

"You have to be spontaneous and natural here. Different sa drama na medyo talaga iyakan to the max," she said.

"Parang binabalik ko 'yung dating Beauty kasi dun din ako nagsimula e, sa mga comedy films," she added.

Bong, meanwhile, will reprise his character and is nostalgic about returning to the role.

"I'm so happy nagawa ko pa ulit 'di ba? Sa telebisyon naman," he said.

"Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis" will air on Sundays on GMA Network.
