Yasmien Kurdi tells followers to embrace their own weirdness: 'Wag mo iyakan 'yan tulad ko noon'
Yasmien Kurdi has come a long way since placing first runner-up on the first season of “Starstruck,” and part of that journey is embracing her weirdness.
In an Instagram post, the Kapuso actress looked back on being called “weird” by her classmates and friends.
“Hanggang pumasok ako sa showbiz na akala kong mas maraming weird and out of this world mag isip na tao, pero weird pa din ang tingin nila [sa ‘kin],” she said.
“Minsan tinatawag nila akong 'krung krung,' 'scaredy,' 'weirdo' at kung ano ano pa... Lagi nila ako pinagtatawanan (ng mga katrabaho ko) pero di ko alam kung bakit,” she added.
At first, Yasmien thought that these people just did not like her, with the way they looked at and talked about her.
But eventually, she learned to embrace her weirdness. “[Siguro] dahil doon kaya ako artista haha!”
The actress told her followers to not be bothered when they are called weird, “because we are all unique in our own way.”
“Wag mo iyakan yan (tulad ko noon),” she added. “Di mo kailangan i-meet yung ‘standards’ ng society.”
Yasmien also said to be kind to everyone. “Be proud of your uniqueness at weirdness,” she said.
“Keep doing your thing. One day it will all make sense. Just keep going! One day you may just change the world. Cheers!” she added.
Yasmien was one of the stars of “Start-Up PH” and the upcoming series “The Missing Husband.”
She was recently given two awards for her work in the industry.
