Glaiza De Castro, Mike Tan hope to educate viewers about in vitro fertilization in 'The Seed of Love'
Glaiza De Castro and Mike Tan hope to educate the viewers about in vitro fertilization (IVF) in the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series "The Seed of Love."
According to Lhar Santiago's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, Glaiza plays Eileen while Mike plays her husband Bobby.
In the story, Bobby decides to have his sperm frozen due to a cancer scare. He and Eileen then agree to have their child via in-vitro fertilization using his preserved sperm cell.
"I'm very grateful dahil napupunta ko sa ganitong klaseng projects na kaya nating i-elevate 'yung ini-expect ng mga tao na tungkol naman ito sa in vitro," Mike said.
"Bagong storyline, bagong theme, 'di ba? It's something that we're really excited to show to people and educate them also," Glaiza added.
IVF is a procedure where mature eggs are collected from ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a laboratory. The fertilized egg or embryo is then transferred into a uterus.
Valerie Concepcion also co-stars in the series. She plays Alexa, who is Bobby's ex and tries to mess with Bobby and Eileen's marriage. That includes stealing the couple's embryo from the in vitro fertilization.
"'Yun nga po to the point na pati 'yung kanyang binhi ay aagawin ko because I felt na 'yun ang makakapagpa-stay at makakapagpabalik sa akin is 'yung dadalhin ko 'yung anak niya," she said.
Boy2 Quizon, Allan Paule, Bernadette Allyson, Ashley Rivera, Alyana Asistio, and Tina Paner also star in the series.
"The Seed of Love" will air on on GMA Afternoon Prime starting May 8. It will air Mondays to Fridays at 4:05 p.m. Viewers abroad can also catch the program on GMA Pinoy TV.
