How the ‘Voltes V: Legacy’ cast plans to introduce the series to the younger generation
“Voltes V” is one of the top animated series and characters in pop culture ever since it premiered in the ‘70s.
And with GMA premiering its live-action adaptation very soon, Gen Z will soon be introduced to the iconic series.
In a recent virtual press conference, the “Voltes V: Legacy” cast shared why younger audiences would enjoy the series.
According to Radson Flores, who plays Mark, the characters are humanized and have a certain depth.
In contrast to the animated Mark, who is very aloof, distant, and calm, the actor said the live-action version adds more layers to his personality.
“Dito po sa ‘Voltes V: Legacy,’ hindi lang po yun yung range ng emotions na kaya niyang abutin, meron pa pong ibang parts,” Radson said.
Matt Lozano, who plays Big Bert, recommends the show because it is all about family.
He added, “Napaka relatable ng lahat ng scenes dito.”
Matt said that audiences would maybe get encouraged to watch the show because it is the first live adaptation of the anime and is done by Filipinos.
Meanwhile, Raphael Landicho, who plays Little Jon, said the top-notch production will make audiences want to watch the show. “At para po mapakita namin yung best namin sa kanila,” he added.
Ysabel Ortega, who plays Jamie Robinson, said that while they are not part of the generation that experienced “Voltes V” during its heyday, their generation sure loves superhero movies with great graphics.
“’Voltes V’ is that, except the fact that it’s made entirely in the Philippines. So you know, it’s something to be proud of, it’s something to be curious about,” she said.
“And at the same time, ‘Voltes V: Legacy’ is a story about four teenagers and a kid—it’s a story about people our age and kung ano yung mga pinagdadaanan nila in their everyday life.”
Finally, for Miguel Tanfelix who plays Steve Armstrong, he said the team simply wants to bring the “Voltes V” experience.
“Gusto naming ma-experience niyo kung ano yung na-experience ng mga magulang niyo dati nung kabataan nila,” the Kapuso actor said.
He added that being hooked on a show is one great feeling.
“Kasi alam mo yun, yung pakiramdam na uuwi ka ng school or pupunta ka ng school, ma-hook ka sa isang show about sa limang magkakaibigan at sa isang pamilya, ibang pakiramdam yung nabibigay nun eh,” Miguel said.
“Gusto lang namin ipa-experience sa kanila yung tuwa, yung lungkot, yung excitement, yung takot, lahat ng emosyon na naramdaman ng parents nila,” he added.
Miguel also said that the series could be a way for families to bond.
“Manonood sila ng ‘Voltes V,’ kekwento ng mga magulang nila kung ano buhay nila dati nung panahong pinapalabas pa yung ‘Voltes V’ sa GMA din.”
Before its TV premiere, “Voltes V: Legacy: The Cinematic Experience” will exclusively be shown in SM Cinemas from April 19 to 25. This film will include material from the first three weeks of the much-awaited series. — LA, GMA Integrated News
