Barbie Forteza on the success of her love team with David Licauco: 'It's serendipity, a fortunate accident'

Barbie Forteza opened up on the success of her love team with David Licauco in "Maria Clara at Ibarra."

In Tuesday's press conference for "Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko,"  the Sparkle actress expressed her joy at how the "FiLay" love team skyrocketed into fandom ever since "Maria Clara at Ibarra" aired on national TV.

"It was very unexpected," Barbie said. "What happened to David and I is like serendipity, a fortunate accident."

"'Yung hindi naman talaga pinlano pero ang magical lang nung nangyari dahil pareho naming 'di inaasahan, and yet, naging successful siya without even trying actually," she added.

Barbie said that the unexpected love team made her glad because she didn't think she could still be paired with a love team at this point in her showbiz career.

Meanwhile, David said he credits the "Maria Clara at Ibarra" team for opening more opportunities for the "FiLay" love team.

"Kung wala 'yun, wala rin 'to eh. Lahat nang bumubuo [ng "Maria Clara at Ibarra"], the directors and yung mga shots na napakaganda kasi 'yun naman talaga 'yung nag bigay ng ingay at nagbigay at nag add ng kilig sa pair up namin ni Barbie," he said.

David and Barbie will soon star in an episode of "Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko" on March 12, which will air on GMA Network at 6 p.m. after "24 Oras Weekend."
