Jeric Gonzales, Joaquin Domagoso receive NCCA's Ani ng Dangal for winning int'l Best Actor awards
Jeric Gonzales and Joaquin Domagoso have been recognized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) after winning Best Actor awards in international film festivals.
The Sparkle actors received their Ani ng Dangal trophies during the awarding ceremony held on Wednesday at the Malacañang Palace.
Jeric was named Best Actor at the Harlem International Film Festival in New York for his performance in the award-winning independent film "Broken Blooms."
Joaquin, meanwhile, bagged the same award 16th Toronto Film and Script Awards for his performance in acclaimed film "That Boy in the Dark."
The Ani ng Dangal recognizes natural-born Filipino artists or groups who have received international awards and accolades in architecture, cinema, dance, dramatic arts, literary arts, music, visual arts, folk arts, and broadcast arts in the past year.
Other awardees include Dolly De Leon, who won Best Supporting Performer at the Los Angeles Critics Awards and picked up historic nominations at the Golden Globes and BAFTA Film Awards for "Triangle of Sadness," and Billy Crawford, the champion of "Dancing With the Stars" in France last year.
