Barbie Forteza, David Licauco, and Andrea Torres have won acting awards for their roles on “Maria Clara at Ibarra.”
The three Kapuso stars were recognized by the Platinum Stallion National Media Awards, which is organized by Trinity University of Asia. According to the organization's Facebook page, the awards “merit the continuing efforts of individuals and groups in educating the public through the media and allied arts.”
The winners were announced in January, but the awardees were only able to receive their trophies at this week’s ceremony.
Barbie won Best Drama Actress. In an Instagram post, the Kapuso Primetime Princess thanked the university’s teachers and students “for recognizing our program and for appreciating my work.”
She added, “Thank you, @gmanetwork & @sparklegmaartistcenter for entrusting me to play the role of Maria Clara ‘Klay’ Infantes. I will forever be grateful.”
On Facebook, David posted a selfie with Barbie where they are both holding their awards.
The Pambansang Ginoo won Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
“Appreciate all of you,” he said in his caption.
Andrea, meanwhile, won Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Sisa. In an Instagram post, the actress said that she is “over the moon!”
She thanked her co-actors, the production team, GMA Network, Sparkle, and her family, “who is always there to give me with the best kind of love and support in both trials and victories.”
“Maria Clara at Ibarra” is going to be extended. Barbie and David said that fans can look forward to what happens next with Klay and Fidel.
