Barbie Forteza is the newest ambassador of GMA's anti-piracy campaign

"Maria Clara at Ibarra" star Barbie Forteza is the newest ambassador for GMA's "Stream Responsibly. Fight Piracy" campaign.

The "Stream Responsibly. Fight Piracy." campaign aims to help raise awareness among people, especially the younger generation, of the value of creative works and the potential harm of using pirated websites and apps.

"Being an artist myself, napaka-importante nun," said Barbie, who took her oath as ambassador at the GMA Network Center on Monday.

"Iba 'yung hirap na pinagdaanan sa 'Maria Clara at Ibarra' so for people to take it for granted and to stream elsewhere than GMA Network's official website and official app, parang ang sakit nun kasi hindi biro talaga 'yung ginawa namin so, I mean, the least that they could do is to treat it legitimately," she added.

Movies and TV shows are important to the Kapuso Primetime Princess as they are part of her career.

"'Di ko alam kung exaggerated, but movies and series [are] my life. It's what I do. It's how I earn money. It's how I can provide for my family," she said.

"It really is my life—movies and series—even before the pandemic and even after the pandemic so malaking bagay siya sa 'kin kasi hindi lang ako basta viewer. Trabaho ko siya. Puhunan ko siya talaga. Passion ko siya. Malaking bagay siya sa 'kin so for people to take it for granted, it really saddens me kasi para sa 'kin, it's something I really treasure."

Also present at the event were GMA International First Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph T. Francia and GMA Network Assistant Vice President, Litigation & Special Projects, Legal Affairs Atty. Jose Vener Ibarra.

"Voltes V: Legacy" stars Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Matt Lozano, Radson Flores, and Raphael Landicho were also previously volted in to be lead ambassadors of the campaign.

The campaign is in partnership with the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE).
