Dolly De Leon admits being sad about Oscars 2023 snub
Dolly De Leon admitted being sad about not being included in this year’s Oscars nominees for Best Supporting Actress.
At Wednesday's press conference in UP Diliman, the “Triangle of Sadness” actress said she burst into tears upon hearing the news.
“Ang initial reaction ko talaga, umiyak ako, nalungkot ako," she said.
"I felt bad for about two to three days and then after that, okay na kasi — I mean I’m not gonna lie. I’m not gonna pretend na okay lang sa ’kin na hindi ako na-nominate nung time na ‘yon, di 'ba?”
“Syempre sumama loob ko kasi ang daming nag-uusap na ‘baka’ so na-ingraine na sa utak ko na baka nga. Nung hindi ko nakuha, sumama loob ko pero after that, nag-move on na ako. Okay na ako.”
According to Dolly, she realized that “this is a game that we’re all playing, anyway — this award thing.”
“Ang ganda kung may recognition, may award, pero at the end of the day, let’s just let the works speak for itself, di 'ba? That is not to describe the nominees ha.”
“For me, I have so much respect for each and everyone of them. Kung ano man yung outcome, yung nangyari, okay na. It’s all good.”
Despite not being a part of the nominees, Dolly said she would still like to attend the awarding event with the stars of “Triangle of Sadness,” which was nominated for three awards: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.
“Gusto kong pumunta do’n. Hinihintay ko lang talaga kung ano talaga yung plan kasi yung totoo, ‘di pa namin alam kung kasama kaming lahat or kung ako. I wanna go. Gusto kong ma-experience.”
Dolly recently earned nominations from the Golden Globes and the BAFTA Film Awards, which she will attend in London.
