Dennis Trillo was originally cast as Prince Zardoz when 'Voltes V: Legacy' was planned 10 years ago
The mega trailer of "Voltes V: Legacy" revealed that Dennis Trillo will play Ned Armstrong, the father of Steven, Big Bert, and Little Jon.
But did you know that he was supposed to play another role when the live action adaptation was first planned 10 years ago?
According to Nelson Canlas's report on "24 Oras," Friday, Dennis was originally cast as Prince Zardoz. He said, however, that it all worked out with him playing Ned instead.
"Through the years, nandun na 'yung maturity ko sa aking features at sa experiences at sa pag acting," the Kapuso Drama King said.
"Kahit papaano hindi naman ako nahirapan sa pagganap ng role na 'yun dahil napaka-importante rin 'yung character na 'yun dito sa kuwento ng Voltes V."
("Through the years, my maturity is already there in my features, experiences, and acting. I did not have difficulty playing the role because it's also a very important character in the story of Voltes V.")
Spoiler alert: Prince Zardoz is actually Ned's son, which makes him a half-brother to Steve, Big Bert, and Little Jon.
With Dennis playing Ned, the Prince Zardoz role went to Martin Del Rosario.
Dennis said to be part of the series is nostalgic for him, as he previously voiced Steve Armstrong in the "Voltes V" anime.
"Voltes V: Legacy" stars Miguel Tanfelix and Ysabel Ortega as Steve Armstrong and Jamie Robinson while Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, and Raphael Landicho will play Mark Gordon, Big Bert, and Little Jon.
Other cast members include Carla Abellana, Martin Del Rosario, Liezel Lopez, Epy Quizon, Carlo Gonzalez, and many more.
Directed by Mark Reyes, the live action adaptation has been licensed by Japan's own Toei Company, Ltd. through its Philippine-licensor Telesuccess Productions, Inc.
