Juancho Triviño on winning a TAG Award: 'It’s a reminder that we can do it, we can be proud of ourselves, our history'

Juancho Triviño is feeling very proud.

After 10 years in the industry, he finally bagged an award — and an international one at that.

On Instagram, he shared some of this thoughts, saying the win isn't just for him or the "Maria Clara at Ibarra" crew. It isn't even just for the people who have helped him through his 10 years in the business.

"[It's] also or Philippine culture in general," Juancho said.

"It’s a reminder that WE can do it, we can be proud of ourselves, our history, our literary works and where we came from; that we can produce top notch content that audiences will not only enjoy, but can also learn from," he continued.

Playing Padre Salvi was a leap of faith for him, Juancho said, and one that demonstrates his utter trust in God's plan.

"Di 'ko alam kung pano sasabihin na maniniwala kayo, pero honored ako na naka tangap na ko finally ng award for this role — after 10 years in the industry," he said.

Juancho won the trophy for Best Supporting Actor at the 2022 TAG Awards for his work as Padre Salvi in the top-rating drama "Maria Clara at Ibarra."

Dingdong Dantes, meanwhile, tied with Piolo Pascual for the Best Actor category. The Kapuso actor was hailed for his roles as twins Nate and Michael in "I Can See You: Alternate."
