7 Kapuso love teams that made us kilig this 2022

It's been a long year for many of us, but love, in all its forms, kept us going through the challenges we had to face.

Whether it’s love for family, for friends, for that special someone, or perhaps even just the love we see between other couples on and off-screen, a dose of kilig helped us power us each and every day.

To look back on the kilig fix we had throughout the year, we listed down seven Kapuso love teams that captured our hearts in 2022.

1. Bea Alonzo and Alden Richards

Bea Alonzo and Alden Richards played lead characters Tristan and Dani in the recently concluded “Start-Up PH,” a Philippine adaptation of the 2020 hit Korean series.

From the teasers until the finale, Bea and Alden displayed their chemistry and acting prowess as they brought their own twists to the roles originally played by Bae Suzy and Kim Seon Ho.

With TrisDan as the endgame, a point of departure from the original series, they also made Team Good Boy fans believe that childhood sweethearts indeed can end up together.

2. Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos

Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos have been making fans kilig in 2022, both on-screen and off-screen.

The couple starred in their first series together, “Love You Stranger,” where they played LJ and Ben, a production designer and film director, respectively. The show has elements of horror and mystery, but Gabbi and Khalil carried the romance with their natural chemistry.

The two have also been sharing milestones from their relationship, like traveling on their first long vacation by themselves, and launching a food business. It's har to believe they're only five years together!

3. Bianca Umali and Ruru Madrid

We’ll have to wait until next year to see Bianca Umali and Ruru Madrid in their first series together, but their off-screen romance certainly had fans feeling giddy in 2022!

The couple, who finally admitted in August that they have been dating for four years, have been sharing their sweet moments together on social media.

Team RuCa revealed their matching tattoos, went on a coffee date in South Korea, did workouts together, and dedicated heartfelt messages for each other. They even took a lie detector test as a couple!

4. Angel Guardian and Kokoy De Santos

The GeKoy love team of “Running Man Philippines” added more spice to the already flavorful reality-game show co-produced by South Korean’s SBS and GMA Network.

Viewers could not help but feel the sparks between the “Weekend Couple,” who sometimes teamed up together, sometimes competed directly against each other, but always supported each other.

Angel Guardian and Kokoy De Santos also starred opposite each other in “Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento” as Beth and Patrick.

5. Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz

Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz exchanged “I love yous” in their JulieVerse concert in November, but the pair has been making everyone kilig long before then.

While they had been mum about their relationship status, Julie Anne and Rayver have been showing off their special bond for months.

They jammed with their musical instruments, did dance covers on TikTok, shared some details about their courtship, and expressed their support for each other, to the delight of their fans.

6. Elle Villanueva and Derrick Monasterio

Elle Villanueva and Derrick Monasterio set 2022 on fire with their sizzling hot romance in “Return to Paradise.”

The pair had plenty of steamy scenes as Eden and Red in the afternoon series, and fans could not help but ship the actors together.

Elle and Derrick also made fans kilig off-screen when they went on a brunch date and shared sweet photos of them together.

7. Barbie Forteza and David Licauco

A list of love teams that made waves in 2022 would not be complete without Team FiLay!

Part of why “Maria Clara at Ibarra” has taken the nation by storm is the sparks between Barbie Forteza and David Licauco, who play non-Noli Me Tangere characters Klay and Fidel.

Audiences can’t get enough of their bardagulan moments that slowly turned into a cute romance between two people with clashing personalities, ala Pride and Prejudice. They even have their own theme song!
