Chariz Solomon recalls that the director of 'Bubble Gang' used to dislike her

It's been over a decade since Chariz Solomon joined 'Bubble Gang' and she, nor the show, is going anywhere.

But did you know that the director of the long-running comedy show used to dislike her?

"Noon talaga, si Direk [Caesar] Cosme is very vocal with me na hindi ka talaga namin gusto noong una kasi ang laki mo, ang OA mo," Chariz said in an interview on 'Updated with Nelson Canlas' alongside co-star Valeen Montenegro.

"Oo, totoo 'yun. Sinasabi sa akin 'yun. Masyadong malaki 'yung galaw. Hindi siya bagay doon sa Bubble Gang brand," she added.

Chariz said that this was a way for Direk Cosme to tell her how much she's improved from her rookie days.

"Sinasabi niya sa akin ‘yun kasi gusto niya sabihin na you have grown a lot, na nag-improve ako. So, na-appreciate ko naman," she said.

"Alam ko naman bakit niya sinasabi sa akin ‘yun. Tapos nandito pa rin ako," she added.

She also said that she's grateful they didn't give up on her.

"Tapos tina-try pa rin nila akong ipasok nang ipasok over the years hanggang makuha nila ‘yung gusto nila, and hanggang 'yung time na kinailangan na talaga nila ako," she said.

'Bubble Gang' is set to soon celebrate its 27th anniversary. Chariz said that as usual, they will try to top the past year's gimmick.

"Ang hirap to do ‘pag 27 years ka na," she said. "So, we do our best. Pero ito nga, so dahil 27th year, ito 'yung pinaka… ito 'yung present, so this is the biggest yet." —JCB, GMA Integrated News
