Joey De Leon looks back on poker memories with Danny Javier: 'Next deal ka na lang pare'

Joey De Leon paid tribute to APO Hiking Society’s Danny Javier with a throwback photo and a short message for the late singer.

On Instagram, Joey posted a photo from the early ‘70s musical gag show “OK Lang,” which aired on IBC TV 13. It was TVJ’s first television show; Joey was one of the hosts alongside Vic Sotto and his brothers Tito and Val.

The photo, which could also be seen in the book “Eat Bulaga: Ang Unang Tatlong Dekada,” shows the two groups together on stage.

“We played [poker] minus Jim," Joey recalled in his caption. "May utang pa nga akong [P500] kay Boboy [Garovillo] hanggang ngayon! We did ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ on TV.”

True to his witty nature, Joey added, “Kung baga sa [poker], out ka na muna Danny. Next deal ka [nalang] pare! Rest in peace sounds like BETS PLEASE!”

Danny’s death was confirmed by his family in a Facebook post. He was 75 years old and passed away from “complications due to his prolonged illnesses.”

In 2020, Danny revealed on Facebook that he has "underlying health concerns with my heart, lungs, and kidneys."
