Barbie Forteza, David Licauco did not intend to spur kilig with Team FiLay in 'Maria Clara at Ibarra'
Barbie Forteza and David Licauco have been making everyone kilig with their roles as Klay and Fidel in "Maria Clara at Ibarra."
But in Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras," Monday, Barbie said that was not really what they were aiming for when they were shooting.
As such, they did not expect the massive response from the audience over their chemistry.
"Natatawa ako kasi even when we were doing the scenes, 'yung mga pinapalabas ngayon, 'di naman talaga namin intensyon na magpakilig," Barbie said.
("It's funny because when we were doing the scenes that are being shown these days, it was not really our intention to make everyone giddy.")
The actors said the goal of the scenes were to show the difference in personality between Klay and Fidel.
Nevertheless, David said viewers can expect more "FiLay" scenes moving forward.
Having numerous interactions with Barbie's character, David also could not help but praise the actress.
"Ang galing talaga ni Barbie," he said. "'Pag ka-eksena mo siya, for me, parang natural na lang 'yung mag-react na lang ako sa mga binibigay niya sa 'kin."
("Barbie is really good. When you're doing a scene with her, for me it's natural to just react to what she's giving me.")
"Maria Clara at Ibarra" also stars Dennis Trillo and Julie Anne San Jose. It follows Klay (Barbie), a Gen Z student who finds herself in the world of Jose Rizal's "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo."
It airs on GMA Telebabad on weekdays after "24 Oras." You can also watch the stream on YouTube and the full episodes on the GMA Network mobile app.
