Get to know David Licauco, who plays the internet's favorite red flag in 'Maria Clara at Ibarra'
Fans of "Maria Clara at Ibarra" just could not resist David Licauco as the "sinaunang red flag" Fidel.
Even though his character holds some misogynistic and classist opinions, many have fallen in love with him thanks to David's boyish charm.

1. He is Julie Anne San Jose's leading man in 'Heartful Cafe'
Before "Maria Clara at Ibarra," David starred opposite Julie Anne San Jose in GMA-7's 2021 romantic comedy series "Heartful Cafe."
He played Ace Nobleza, an ambitious entrepreneur who invests in the cafe owned by Heart Fulgencio (Julie Anne).
Incidentally, Barbie Forteza also made an appearance as his girlfriend in the series!
2. He worked with Barbie Forteza in 'Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune'
David's chemistry with Barbie in "Maria Clara at Ibarra" is one of the reasons the fans love him so much.
But before they were Fidel and Klay, the two worked together in "Mano Po Legacy: Family Fortune" earlier this year.
In the series, David played Anthony Chan, the eldest legitimate son of Edison Chan and expected heir to the family business. Barbie played Steffy, a Binondo girl who gets involved in the world of ultra rich Chinoys.
3. He has four food businesses
Aside from being an actor, David is also a entrepreneur. He owns four food businesses, including a restaurant named Kuya Korea.
He is a hands-on owner who does his bit in the kitchen, such as managing the orders and preparing food himself!

4. He plays basketball
David studied business management from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde and also played as a shooting guard for its varsity team, the CSB Blazers.
Despite his busy schedule as an actor, his love for hoops did not disappear and he still plays basketball from time to time.
The sport is part of his workout habits and is one of the reasons he is able to improve his focus on work.
