If you’re like us and can’t get enough of “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” you'll want to check out these two GMA historical dramas.

The 2014 series "Ilustrado," stars Alden Richards as the national hero Jose Rizal. 

The story follows Rizal’s childhood, studies and career abroad, and relationships with his family and his beloved.

As the series progresses, we learn more the sacrifices Rizal made for the love of the Philippines.

Another notable period drama is the 2013 series “Katipunan,” starring Sid Lucero as Andres Bonifacio.

"Katipunan" is all about the Philippines’ state under the Spanish colonization that encouraged the formation of the Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan, or simply, the Katipunan.

The organization’s goal was to gain independence from Spain through a revolution.
