Xian Lim, Ashley Ortega to star in GMA figure skating series 'Hearts on Ice'

We're getting a new primetime series about figure skating!

In Lhar Santiago's report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, Xian Lim and Ashley Ortega were revealed to be the lead cast members in the upcoming teleserye titled "Hearts on Ice."

With figure skating as the backdrop of the show, Ashley and Xian have started training in the rink.

"Medyo challenge 'yung ibang roles na natanggap ko but here, it's close to my heart since advantage na rin na I can skate," Ashley said.

She added that her goal for the show is to really bring out the heart of her character.

For Xian, he said that preparing for the role is "gonna be a challenge."

"Kami ni Ashley, we were working on 'yung choreography on ice. [First] time kong ginagawa, and si Ashley sobrang experienced and sobrang galing niya sa yelo."

Xian has been sharing his training and progress on Instagram since August.

Ashley, meanwhile, has been figure skating even before the show. She returned to the ice just this year after a four-year hiatus.

More cast members that were revealed are Sparkle stars Roxie Smith and Kim Perez. Veteran actors Amy Austria, Tonton Gutierrez, Lito Pimentel, and Rita Avila will also be joining the series.

The series will be helmed by Dominic Zapata, who is also one of the directors of "Start-Up PH."
