Reese Lansangan bumps into Carly Rae Jepsen in Tokyo
Sana all!
Reese Lansangan bumped into Carly Rae Jepsen in Japan, and their unexpected yet destined encounter has the best story behind it.
In an Instagram post, the OPM artist said that their meeting was “completely by chance" — she was at the same spot that Carly shot her "Run Away With Me" music video and happened to be bringing the only vinyl copy of her own album "Time Well Spent."
Reese described the chance encounter as "the craziest thing that’s happened" to her in Tokyo.
“We had a lovely chat, told her I just watched her in Summer Sonic (and in Manila before COVID), and that she inspires many women to write music that’s fun, honest, and at times super coy in the best way possible," she said.
Reese then ended up giving Carly her vinyl!
“She said ‘Are you sure I can keep it? What a great gift!’ Meeting such a brilliant songwriter on the streets of this city IS THE GIFT!!! Enjoy the rest of your stay! Until your next concert, I’ll be there in the audience again,” Reese said.
Reese is best known for her hits “Home,” “Islands,” and “Exploration No. 5.”
Meanwhile, Carly celebrated the seventh anniversary of her now-iconic album “Emotion” in Tokyo and recreated her “Run Away With Me” music video.
