Pen Medina says spinal surgery was successful, but still needs more prayers

Pen Medina's spinal surgery was a success after the actor spent weeks bed-ridden in the hospital.

The veteran actor shared the update on social media on Saturday, expressing his gratitude to everyone who watched over him all throughout the procedure.

"Praise God for making my spinal surgery safe and successful," he wrote on Instagram. "Marami pong salamat sa lahat ng nagdasal at patuloy na nagdadasal para sa akin."

Pen also thanked his doctors, but he said he is not yet on the road to recovery.

"Hindi pa po tapos ang aking laban. I will be needing more prayers as my medical team addresses the accompanying infection," said.

Last week, his son Alex said Pen is suffering from Degenerative Disk Disease (DDD), adding that his dad couldn't sit or stand up.

He and his siblings also humbly appealed "for your charitable help and prayers as our family navigates through helping him get back on his feet—literally and figuratively."

Kathleen, Pen's daughter, said that her father wants to go back to painting after his surgery.
