Fanny Serrano: From 'parlor boy' to a prominent makeup artist

The Philippine fashion and show business industry mourn the passing of celebrated makeup artist and stylist Fanny Serrano, famously known as "TF" or "Tito Fanny."

Being a beauty pioneer in Philippine showbiz, Fanny's death has certainly left many people grieving.

In an exclusive interview with Susan Enriquez for "Tunay na Buhay," Fanny shared how he worked his way up from being a "boy" in a salon to being one of the most prominent names in beauty and fashion in the country.

As a parlor boy, his job was to attend to all the needs of the hairdressers and customers, such as keeping the salon clean and running quick errands.

Until one fateful day, when the senior hairdressers went out of town. Fanny was left to take care of the salon and attend to one of the customer's makeup needs. Long story short, the client liked his work.

“Nung bumalik siya, ako na ang hinahanap,” he told Susan in the interview aired in November 2016.

Fanny would soon become a favorite among celebrities, including Sharon Cuneta, and establish a name for himself.

He would go on to build his own salon, establish a makeup brand called Fanny Serrano cosmetics, a personal care line, Fanny Serrano HairCare, and would break into fashion with Fanny Serrano couture.

Fanny first suffered from a stroke in September 2016 and again in 2021.

On Tuesday night, Fanny died peacefully in his sleep, according to Maktin Miranda, who calls the celebrated makeup artist her father.
