Zonia Mejia, Jamir Zabarte earn praise from ‘Jose & Maria’s Bonggang Villa’ director Sweet Lapus

Zonia Mejia and Jamir Zabarte received a lot of praise from the “Jose & Maria’s Bonggang Villa” director John “Sweet” Lapus for their chemistry and talent.

In a recent press conference at Luxent Hotel in Quezon City, Sweet said they immediately saw how Jamir and Zonia were perfect for the roles they were looking for.

“Magaling yung dalawang bata. We were given four love teams to choose from,” he said. “Sila yung first reading ta’s after namin mag-reading, sinabi namin na okay na kami. Sila na.”

“Hindi na namin pinag-read yung ibang naka lineup. Gano’n kahusay yung dalawang batang ito. Yung reading, kahit via Zoom lang, mararamdaman mo,” he continued.

The Sparkle Sweetheart, meanwhile, said they are very grateful to be acting alongside Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera in the show. It has been a dream of theirs ever since.

“‘Di ko po ma-explain kung ano po yung nararamdaman ko,” Jamir said. “Masaya po ako and matagal na po naming pangarap ni Zonia.”

“Jose & Maria’s Bonggang Villa” is inspired by Marian and Dingdong’s short clips at home. It circles on a couple who will try to bring a bed and breakfast venue back to life.

Premiering on May 14, the couple said they see this project as a dream come true. It also stars Hershey Neri, Shamaine Buencamino, Pinky Amador, Benjie Paras, Pekto, and Loujude, among others.

Zonia and Jamir are one of the five Sparkle Sweethearts. They first made Kapuso viewers kilig as Buddy and Sol in the 2021 romantic-comedy series "Heartful Cafe." — LA, GMA News
