‘First Lady’ to be a source of happiness amid pandemic, says cast

Premiering on the evening of Valentine’s Day, “First Lady,” the sequel to the super successful "First Yaya," promises to continue serving as a source of hope and happiness to its viewers amid the ongoing pandemic.

The second book will circle on Melody (Sanya Lopez), who is training to become the “First Lady” after marrying Philippine Pres. Glenn Acosta (Gabby Concepcion). She will be guided by her predecessors.

Though it sure sounds like a lot of challenges may come Melody's way, the cast said the story will still be full of scenes that will serve as fresh air amid life’s difficulties.

“It’s very refreshing. It takes you to a different kind of light in your life. For a few minutes, makikita mo na magaan, masaya. [Makikita ng viewers] na dapat ang buhay ay laging masaya,” Shyr Valdez said in an online interview with the press.

“All the elements of ‘First Yaya’ are still in ‘First Lady’ pero mas elevated,” Cassy Legaspi added. “We’re giving back to our viewers who look for hope and something to make them laugh.”

“First Lady” will also introduce new characters including NGO Representative of Anti Poverty Volunteers, Ingrid Domingo, who will be given life by Alice Dixson.

Prior to its premiere on Monday night after “24 Oras,” the cast has been keeping viewers excited with some behind-the-scenes footage of the much-awaited show.
