Dingdong Dantes reveals family's bout with COVID-19

Dingdong Dantes and his family have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

On Facebook, Sunday, the Kapuso actor shared a video of himself detailing the struggles they faced for the past two weeks after contracting the virus.

According to Dingdong,  it’s his 10th day in quarantine.

Without mentioning who among the members of their household tested positive, Dingdong said it started when almost all of them experienced fever and other symptoms.

"Hanggang sa lahat kami dito sa bahay nilagnat na at nagkaroon ng sintomas kaya iniisip namin mukhang ‘eto na ‘yun, mukhang nasama na kami sa surge so nag-test kami at ‘yun na nga nag-positive kami sa COVID," he said.

“Hindi namin alam kung saan at papaano kami nahawa pero mabuti nalang [ay] mild lang ang simtomas namin,” he added, adding that they already got their booster shots weeks prior.

Dingdong said they had a hard time with doing chores like buying medicine and preparing food since all of them tested positive.

As such, they are very thankful to those who helped them, including friends and family.

He gave a special mention to his mom Angeline, who had his and the kids’ favorite food delivered.

Dingdong said he is now feeling better, and is set to return to work on Monday.

He also reminded viewers that testing positive for the virus is not something to be ashamed of.

“Hindi po kasalanan o dapat ikahiya ang pagkakaroon ng COVID kasi kahit anong pag-iingat ang gawin, nandiyan pa rin ang panganib na makuha ito,” he said.

Apart from following safety protocols, Dingdong said it is also necessary to get extra protection from the available vaccines and booster shots.

“'Yung pagsubok na ‘to na pinagdadaanan natin ng buong mundo, isang napakahirap na hamon para sa ating lahat pero malalampasan nating lahat ito kung tayo’y magtutulungan at patuloy na iisipin ang kapakanan ng bawat isa,” he said.

Aside from Dingdong, other personalities who tested positive for COVID-19 include Iya Villania and her family, Candy Pangilinan, Tuesday Vargas, Pia Wurtzbach, Aubrey Miles, Troy Montero, Hidilyn Diaz, and Arnold Clavio, among others. —Franchesca Viernes/JAB, GMA News.
