‘Voltes V: Legacy’ filming is 50% done, says director Mark Reyes

Director Mark Reyes has revealed that filming for the highly anticipated live-action adaptation series “Voltes V: Legacy” is 50% done.

During an interview on “The Howie Severino Podcast,” Reyes said that although there was no set release date yet for the show, the crew had already done a lot.

“In terms of our shoot, we are 50% done. And then, in post-production, I don’t know how many percent they’ve done but they’re doing a lot. Or they’ve done a lot already,” he said.

Unfortunately, the director said it was hard to peg down when they would wrap up the show and release it because of the pandemic.

Aside from sending everyone home when alert levels rose during lock-in tapings, Reyes said Raphael Landicho, the actor playing Little Jon, hadn’t shot his scenes yet since because he’s only eight years old and hadn’t received his COVID-19 vaccine yet.

“Even post-production is doing all the CGI graphics, they’re not working from the office, where they have the bigger machines like in Riot or even in GMA. They’re working from home with much less advanced or fast machines or computers. That also slows us down,” Reyes said.

He said in Filipino: “So it’s hard to quantify when we will be able to finish because one of our promises to our viewers is we won’t rush this”

The director said they also had to get approvals from GMA, and the local franchise holder and its owner in Japan.

“It’s a long process. We will have to finish everything before we send everything to Japan for their approval. And that’s the only time that we can launch this production,” he added.

“There are three governing bodies for the approval of everything, down to the piece of helmet, to the costume, special effects to the design. So it’s a really long process.”

Aside from Raphael, other actors featured in the highly anticipated live-action adaptation series are Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Radson Flores, and Matt Lozano.

New live-action scenes, characters, sets, and action stunts were revealed on the “Voltes V: Legacy” featurette which premiered during the Kapuso Countdown to 2022 New Year special.

The adaptation was licensed by Japan’s Toei Company Ltd. through the Philippine-based Telesuccess Productions. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
