‘Prima Donnas’ director Gina Alajar praises cast for ‘serious’ growth on Book 2

Viewers will finally know what happens to the “Prima Donnas” when Book 2 premieres next week.

Fans are definitely in for a treat because, according to director and drama legend Gina Alajar, the tight-knit cast of young actors had shown some serious growth since the first chapter.

"Ang very distinct sa kanilang lahat [ay] parang seryoso sila sa kanilang craft," Direk Gina told GMA press on Friday.

"Naging seryoso sila kasi they always ask questions na how did they do, how did the scene go, o were they okay," she said.

"Kasi, in the past hindi naman sila ganon. Kumbaga, kung ano 'yung nagawa, ok na 'yun sa kanila," the director added.

"But, this time, parang they're more conscious of it," she said. "Para [silang] nagiging perfectionists, in other words."

Direk Gina was also "amazed" by how the cast always came prepared, even when they had schoolwork in between their lock-in taping.

"Alam ko na pinag-aaralan nila 'yung eksena nila, pinag-aaralan nila 'yung script nila and, if you will just know how tedious it could be for them ... they still study [and] they still study their script for the next day's schedule," she said.

"Kaya napapabilib ako ng mga batang 'yan and doon sa set, alam nila' yung mga linya nila, alam naman nila kung ano 'yung mga gagawin nila," she added. "I think hawahan na 'yan eh."

"Prima Donnas" is a heartwarming teleserye that follows the lives of three young heiresses whose lives take an unexpected turn.

Aside from the Claveria sisters played by Jillian Ward, Althea Ablan, and Sofia Pablo, it also stars up-and-coming talents Elijah Alejo, Allen Ansay, Will Ashley, Vince Crisostomo, and Bruce Roeland.

After a successful first season, "Prima Donnas" is coming back with a Book 2 on Jan. 17.
