Filipina writer-director Janus Victoria's work "The Myth of Manila" is included in the Sharjah Art Foundation's annual film festival.

The news was announced on The National revealing Victoria's work will be one of the two films that will be screened for the programme's opening.

"The Myth of Manila" follows the trials of a reporter in pandemic-hit Manila by 2021 winner Janus Victoria. It stars Angeli Bayani and is co-produce by Project 8 Projects of Dan Villegas and Antoinette Jadaone. Neil Daza is the film's director of photography.

According to a press release, the film is supported by the foundation's Short Film Production Grant.

It opens on November 19, 2021 at the outdoor Mirage City Cinema.

Apart from directing documentaries for GMA News & Public Affairs shows like "i-Witness" Victoria has also spearheaded a few videos for GMA Digital, including serving as executive producer for "Share Ko Lang." She is also among the pioneering producers of "Need to Know" video series.

The Sharjah Art Foundation’s annual film festival will take from November 19 to 27, 2021. It has an impressive line-up of more than 50 films, including world and regional premieres.

Aside from the films, the festival will also host "public talks and masterclasses by award-winning filmmakers like AR Rahman ("Slumdong Millionaire" and "127 Hours") and James Longley; workshops for children, and its industry hub that supports the development and distribution of new films."

The festival will also adopt a hybrid model making several films available simultaneously online and in cinemas across Sharjah.

Tickets for the event are available online ranging from free talks to classes, and starts at Dh20 for a single online screening and Dh120 for a full physical and online festival pass. www.sharjahart.org. — LA, GMA News
