Super Tekla admits feeling hurt after getting mistaken for shoplifter

Super Tekla admitted that he felt hurt when he was mistaken for a shoplifter after buying something in a convenience store.

In Aubrey Carampel's report for "24 Oras Weekend," the Kapuso comedian shared how he got accused by one of the store's staff of taking an item after he had already paid at the counter.

"Palabas na ako ng pinto, at hinarang ako nung roving guard na girl, 'Sir may kinuha po kasing ano sir, 'yan lang po ba binili n'yo?' 'Yun ang approach niya sa akin," Tekla said.

"So s'yempre na-shock ako. 'Bakit ano problema?' 'Sir may kinuha po kasi kayong item nakita ko sa CCTV,'" he continued.

"The Boobay and Tekla Show" host said the staff wanted to search him for the item, which he allowed. Nothing was found.

The cashier, who recognized him, also vouched that he did not take anything.

According to Tekla, he was looking at some items but he ended up not including them in his purchase. He put his hand in his pocket at some point, which might have been what was captured by the CCTV.

Tekla said they were looking for a roll-on, and true to his nature as a comedian, he couldn't help but think of a joke: "Ha? Ni maligo di ko kayang gawin deodorant pa kaya."

"Sarap lang sanang haluan ko ng katatawanan 'yung time na 'yun. Pero deep inside nasaktan ako. Dun ko naramdaman 'yung 'Ouch, sad reality.' Masakit na nakakatawa," he said.

Tekla also did not miss the irony of the situation, as he often cracks self-deprecating jokes about his appearance.

"Nagkatotoo. Sabi ko, para akong binalikan nung mga jokes ko."
