Here's the thoughtful reason why Bea Alonzo is sharing her life as a vlogger
On top of being an actress, endorser and farm owner, Bea Alonzo constantly comes up with fun and creative content to share with her YouTube subscribers, now clocking in at more than 2 million.
But why is vlogging so important to her?
During her first face-to-face interview with GMA-7's "Unang Hirit," the actress said vlogs were a way to show fans her true self and not just the characters she's known for playing.
"I was really scared of what people will think about me," Bea said.
"Kinakabahan ako pag may kailangan akong sabihin sa camera like, iniisip ko, all these years, ang minahal naman nila ay si Bashang, ang minahal naman nila ay si Bobby, pero ako hindi nila ako gusto?"
[I always get nervous when I need to say something on cam. I've been thinking, all these years, they loved Bashang. They loved Bobby. But what about me?]
Bea said she always wants to "be there" for fans and for her fans to be there for each other, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Naisip ko rin nung pandemic kasi, kung hindi ako magsa-start ng vlog, how would my fans feel that I'm there for them habang may pinagdadaanan sila, yung mga pinagdadaaanan nila during the pandemic?" she said.
[I also thought, during the pandemic, if I don't start a vlog, how will my fans feel that I'm there for them while they go through the lockdown? Especially the ones who are going though tough times during the pandemic.]
"Like most of them, nade-depress, most of them, nawalan ng trabaho... This is bigger than me, so ngayon, nagagawa namin siya slowly. May groups na sila, tapos 'yung iba, may sinusulungan na sila."
[Most of them turned depressed. Most of them lost jobs. This is bigger than me, so now we are able to accomplish things. Some of them have found support groups. Others have found shelter.]
Bea Alonzo has amassed more than 2.18 million subscribers since she launched her Youtube channel in 2018.
Apart from behind-the-scenes access to her fabulous projects, Bea also gives fans a glimpse into her life outside showbiz, including online Q&As, cooking tutorials, a tour around her family's farm in Zambales, and super sweet videos with her boyfriend, Dominic Roque. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
