Catriona Gray releases new song 'Love Language'
Catriona Gray just released her new single and my oh my, what a cool, jazzy, R&B affair.
It's called "Love Language" and it's a 3 minute-28 second demonstration of the beauty queen's musical talents. Catriona didn't just sing the song, the Miss Universe 2018 titleholder also wrote it.
"Excited, nervous and aaghhhh," Catriona wrote in an Instagram post. "Hope you guys love it as much as I do!" she added.
Released under the Global Pinoy Music project of Warner Music Philippines (GLOMP), "Love Language" is a collaboration between Catriona and Sydney-based producer Billy Cabusas a.k.a. Cabu.
At the GLOMP event on Thursday, Catriona shared she had discovered a lyric some months prior "and it really fit with this set of chords that Cabu had on track and from that point the song kind of wrote itself."
According to Catriona, she had less than a week to complete the lyrics and melody, with the pair recording "Love Language" in less than two days.
It's not that easy though, as Catriona actually flew to Sydney to record parts of the song, with the two of them collaborating on the song over Zoom.
"I sent her a few beats during that hotel quarantine. She came back after a few days really quick [with lyrics] … and it was a voice memo (of) what we know now (as) Love Language," Cabu said.
The result is a soothing ditty with a funky, easy drop that you won't help but head-bop to.
Catriona isn't just a huge music enthusiast. She actually enrolled in an online course at the prestigious Berklee College of Music and has gone the gig route too, having played at Route 196 at one point. — LA, GMA News
