Bea Alonzo and Zeinab Harake look back on their old pageant days

Did you know Bea Alonzo and Zeinab Harake were both "konteseras" back in the day?

The Kapuso actress and the internet sensation ended up looking back at their old pageant days in Bea's latest vlog.

While playing a game called "I Want To Get To Know You from A to Z," Bea shared that she once joined a small pageant in Pasig.

She also showed a few throwback pics from the "Bb. Santolan" pageant in 2001 where she wore a shimmering red evening gown and a striped one-piece swimsuit.

Even though that pageant was where she was "discovered," Bea said she never dreamed of becoming a beauty queen.

"Ako hindi ko pinangarap maging beauty queen — pangarap 'yun ng lola ko. For me, gusto ko talagang maging artista," the actress said.

"Pinaka-ayaw ko na nagpa-fashion show. Ayaw ko na naglalakad ako tas tinitignan ako ng mga tao," she added.

Zeinab also joined a few small beauty contests in Parañaque and Bacoor before becoming a vlogger.

But just like Bea, she eventually told herself that pageant life wasn't for her.

"Pinangarap ko, pero parang ayaw ng utak ko. Sabi ng utak ko wag na maging totoo tayo sa sarili natin."

Bea Alonzo, who is now officially a Kapuso, is one of the country's most sought-after actresses after her award-winning performances in film and dramas.

Meanwhile, Zeinab Harake is a half-Filipino, half-Lebanese vlogger who has 11 million subscribers on YouTube. She and partner, rapper Skusta Clee, have a daughter named Zebbiana. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
