Phoebe Waller-Bridge exits ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ due to reported ‘creative differences’ with Donald Glover
British actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for her role in "Fleabag," is leaving Amazon's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" series.
According to a Variety report on Wednesday, Phoebe left the project because of "creative differences" with co-star and executive producer Donald Glover.
Sources close to the project said Phoebe's departure was amicable and her role would be recast.
The series adaptation of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's hit film of the same name is a joint production between New Regency and Amazon Prime Video. It was due to go into production next year.
"Mr. & Mrs. Smith" revolves around a married couple who discover they are assassins working for rival agencies. Hired to kill each other, the two begin to embark on an adventure to defeat the other, but find themselves confronting the foundations of their marriage.
Phoebe and Donald, who first worked together on the 2018 film "Solo: A Star Wars Story," were supposed to reprise the roles of Brad and Angelina.
The series was conceived by Donald who is staying as the show's executive producer and lead actor. Francesca Sloane also remains as the showrunner. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
