Sofia Pablo lands 'dream role' after 1-year break

Sofia Pablo is officially making her TV comeback this September!

Not only that: the young Kapuso actress is excited to announce that she finally got to fulfil her ultimate dream of playing a mermaid.

Sofia will star in an episode of GMA's upcoming weekly anthology "Regal Studios Presents" entitled "Raya Sirena," a modern-day fairytale about a social-media famous daughter of a beach resort owner whose whole life turns upside down after magically transforming into a mermaid.

"I was really happy to be working with everyone again," she told GMA News Online in an internal press interview on Tuesday.

"Lalo na, I miss acting. I missed the set. I missed working with directors. I missed taking instructions and, lalo na, the role is being a mermaid, and I'm really happy po na it's the role na ginawa ko."

Sofia said she was shocked to get the part because she didn't think such a role would be possible for her.

The 15-year-old actress had just come from a one-year break after temporarily saying goodbye to tapings due to earlier health regulations.

“With more than a year na nag-stop ako ng TV because I was 14, medyo nagkaroon ako ng doubts sa sarili ko in between," Sofia said.

" [I said to myself] Kaya ko pa bang umarte? So I was really nervous. [I asked myself] Kailangan ko pa kayang mag acting workshop or, nandun parin [ba] 'yung skills [ko]?" she added.

"Noong nag-taping na po ako for "Regal [Studio Presents]," napa-kalma na po ako na, 'Okay, kaya ko pa naman'." 

Sofia Pablo temporarily left GMA’s hit drama “Prima Donnas” last September to comply with the implementation of the community quarantine.

The young actress, however, is still very much part of the family and is set to reprise her role as Donna Lyn Claveria in “Prima Donnas” Book 2.

Sofia will also get to reunite with her onscreen sweetheart, Allen Ansay, in "Regal Studio Presents: Raya Sirena" coming soon on GMA. — LA, GMA News
