Jamir Garcia's never-before-heard song is called 'Paraiso'

A never-before-heard track from late Jamir Garcia will be released on Sunday, September 5.

It's called "Paraiso" and according to the Slapshock frontman's family and friends, it's the first single from an entire solo album Jamir was able to record before he passed last November.

"Paraiso" was unearthed from the late singer-songwriter's studio archives, and in a private virtual listening session on Thursday, Jamir's brother Sonboy Garcia said it speaks about all his the struggles he faced throughout his journey.

“It was around April 2020 pinadalhan niya kami ng email… he said: 'Bro check out this song.' Parang kagagawa niya lang 'yung kanta eh, tapos nafi-feel namin 'yung excitement niya..." Sonboy recalled during the zoom call.

"He did all the instruments and 'yung kanta, it was about all, lahat ng pinagdaanan niya, like all his struggles to get to where he’s at," he added.

"At sinabi niya pa sa email na when you listen to it with headphones, you can hear all the dynamics.“

"Paraiso" will officially be released under Balcony Entertainment, a record label led by Jamir's close friend, Rico Blanco.

The Garcia family entrusted the Rivermaya frontman and producer to make some adjustments based on the singer's's original demo and notes, but Rico assured fans that the final product would still be all Jamir.

"I really wanted to make the listener feel like andun siya singing from paraiso. Like, he’s there when you hear this song. Kasi narating na niya eh,” Rico told reporters.

"So I wanted [to tell] that story, from the intro to the outro when it fades out," he added.

Vladimir "Jamir" Garcia, who was among the stalwarts of the Philippine rap metal scene, passed away on November 26, 2020.

The musician was found lifeless in his home in Barangay Sangandaan, Quezon City. He was rushed to the Metro North Medical Center and Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

Jamir's unreleased single will hit platforms this September 5, which would have been Jamir's 43rd birthday.

“Jamir may no longer be with us here physically but we have his songs to be with him again, to feel him again, to hear him again, to sing with him again, and to love him again,” the Garcia family said in a statement.

“His songs will stay forever — here, with us, and for us." he added. — LA, GMA News
