Glaiza De Castro, Jasmin Curtis-Smith, and Lovi Poe are nominated for best actress in 44th Gawad Urian

An early congratulations to Kapuso stars Glaiza de Castro, Lovi Poe, and Jasmine Curtis-Smith for earning the Best Actress nomination in the 44th Gawad Urian.

Jasmine is nominated for her work in "Alter Me," while Glaiza is getting a nod for "Midnight in a Perfect World. Lovi Poe, who just landed a role in the upcoming Hollywood biopic "The Chelsea Cowboy," is nominated for playing the titular role in the romance drama "Malaya."

The three Kapuso actresses will go up against Alessandra de Rossi ("Watchlist"), Charlie Dizon ("Fan Girl"), Shaina Magdayao ("Tagpuan"), Bela Padilla ("On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets"), Sue Ramirez ("Finding Agnes"), and Cristine Reyes ("Untrue").

Meanwhile, Kapuso stars Sandy Andolong and Bing Pimentel are nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for their work on "Finding Agnes" and "Midnight in a Perfect World" respectively.

Two politically charged documentaries make it to the list of best picture nominees alongside narrative features. There's Alyx Arumpac's "Aswang," an already award-winning documenary on President Rodrigo Duterte's drug war, and Ramona Diaz's "A Thousand Cuts," which tackles the rift between the government and the free press under the Duterte administration.

The 44th Gawad Urian Night is tentatively scheduled on October 6 at 6 p.m., via the UPDZ YouTube channel and the Manunuri Facebook page.
