Jamir Garcia's family to release an all-new single on the singer's birthday
Jamir Garcia's brother Kenneth took to social media to share that the bereaved family of the late Slapshock vocalist will be dropping an all-new previously unreleased single on September 5, the singer's birthday.
According to Kenneth, the new single is going to be the first off the solo album that Jamir had been working on before he passed away in November last year.
In the letter, Kenneth shared that "in early 2020, in one of his emails to us, Jamir intimated that he was ready to release the solo album, having composed and completed enough songs."
The songs, Kenneth continued, were written "throughout the different stages of his musical life."
Sharing how music had always been Jamir's "one true North," Kenneth shared how the singer often told his family "that his solo album would be the pinnacle of his musical journey. As always, he wanted to share this part of the journey with you - his loyal fans. And so here we are writing this letter to let you all know that the first single will be released on September 5, to commemorate his birthday."
Jamir's solo record is produced by Rico Blanco, to whom they expressed their gratitude "for readily accepting the enormous challenge and responsibility of producing Jamir's solo album."
"Jamir may no longer be with us here physically but we have his songs to be with him again, to feel him again, to hear him again, to sing with him again, and to love him again. His songs will stay forever -- here, with us, and for us," Kenneth said.
