Julie Anne San Jose's 'Limitless': 7 things about the upcoming musical trilogy
Julie Anne San Jose will be taking her fans to an extraordinary journey in her first musical trilogy, "Limitless."
The three-part musical will have Julie Anne reveal the kind of woman she really is, making the project super intimate and personal for her.
In a virtual interview with the press via Zoom, Julie Anne and her team shared a a few things viewers can expect from "Limitless."
1. Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The musical will take place in unexpected locations in the three major Philippine islands.
The first part of the trilogy has Asia's Pop Diva exploring Mindanao. Julie Anne mentioned heading out to Cotabato and gushed over visiting La Palmera Mountain Ridge in Mindanao.
"Up in the mountains, I was really able to breathe. I forgot about all the problems I'd been fussing over. It was like breathing new air," she said in a mix of Filipino and English.
"I want people to relate to that new feeling, because we've been going through this problem for a really long time now," Julie continued.
"Pag na-samahan niyo ko sa journey na 'to, parang mafi-feel niyo na gusto niyo rin makapunta," she added. "Sobrang daming magandang places na hindi pa nadi-discover."
[Watching the musical will have you wanting to travel. There are so many beautiful places in the Philippines that we haven't discovered.]
For the second part, "Breathe," Julie Anne will explore Visayas and for the last part "Rise," she will be discovering places in Luzon.
2. Expect to see Julie in her truest form
Julie Anne said she will be giving "a piece" of her heart in this trilogy.
"I don’t think I’ve ever been this open and vulnerable to others," she said.
"A lot of people see me as alam mo yun, a performer, singer; lagi nakikita sa mga shows pero for the very first time, makikita niyo ako as me, kung ano talaga ako," she added.
[A lot of people see me as a performer, a singer. You see me in shows. This is the first time that you'll see me as me, for who I really am.]
As a matter of fact, it was also the first time that Julie Anne saw herself so carefree.
"It was the first time I saw myself so carefree, just enjoying the moment, enjoying the sights, enjoying the people I was with," she said.
3. It will teach viewers to appreciate and preserve the Filipino culture
Julie Anne hopes that like her, viewers can also learn to appreciate and preserve the Filipino culture.
"Sana nakikita ng ibang tao kung gano kaganda yung lugar nila at sana hindi mabaliwala yung culture nila kasi ang dami ng mga bago na nangyayari sa mundo and we all adapt to it," she said.
[I hope people see how beautiful the place they call home really is. I hope they don't brush aside their local cultures in favor of adapting to other, more popular cultures.]
"Ang isa sa pinaka importante na kailangan matutunan nating mga Pilipino ay alagaan natin at i-preserve natin ang culture natin," she added.
[One of the most important things we need to learn is to take care and preserve our culture.]
Julie Anne said experiencing the culture firsthand was very meaningful.
"Sobrang wow. Hindi ko na-realize until now na ganito pala yung feeling na kapag na-experience mo yung culture nila. I can’t say anything about it yet but you need to watch it," she said.
[I didn't realize it was going to feel this way, experiencing the culture of other places in the country. I can't say anything about it yet but you need to watch it.]
"We are thankful to the local partners and LGUs that took care of us. It's really the warmth of people that touched my heart and all of our hearts," she added.
4. Breathtaking views will be shown in the trilogy
While most are still stuck at home since last year, Julie Anne's trilogy should definitely take care of the growing wanderlust among people who have been stuck at home since last year.
"Limitless" will take its viewers to different places in the Philippines.
"There is more to life than this pandemic and that there’s so much more to see out there and like I always say, lahat tayo gusto makawala," she said.
"Ang tagal nating pinagdaanan itong pandemic na ito and we all just want to explore the world and I hope through this project, sana masamahan nila ako to like to breathe to heal and to rise with me all of us in this journey," she added.
[We've been going through this pandemic for such a long time now and we all just want to explore the world. I hope through this project, viewers are able to come with me, to breathe and to heal and to rise with me in this journey.]
"And I also want to share to everyone not only my music, my adventures, and my discoveries, ‘yung mga hidden gems dito sa Pilipinas kung gaano ito kaganda," she said.
[I also want to share not just my music and my adventures but my discoveries, too. The hidden gems in the country and how beautiful they are.]
5. Julie will be revealing stories behind her songs
Aside from having singers guest on the show, Julie will also be revealing the stories behind her self-composed songs.
"I don’t know yet but 'pag napanuod niyo po malalaman niyo po — but yes I will be singing some of my original songs sa 'Limitless' and I'm very excited about it kasi parang bihira ko rin makanta yung mga sarili kong kanta kapag nagpe-perform ako," she said.
[I will be singing some of my original songs and I'm very excited about it because I haven't been able to perform them as much.]
"I will explain how I wrote some of the songs, or why I wrote them. It just feels great to sing my own songs din," she added.
