Jinky Oda to reunite with Ruby Rodriguez for LA musical
Jinky Oda is set to reunite with former co-star Ruby Rodriguez for a musical to be staged in Los Angeles in October!
She shared the good news during Lhar Santiago’s “24 Oras” report Wednesday, showing her copy of the script.
“It’s a musical about the life of San Lorenzo Ruiz,” she said in a mix of English and Filipino. “I already have my script. My role is Doña J.”
Jinky and Ruby were part of the cast of the long-running ’90s television series “Okay Ka, Fairy Ko!” which also starred Vic Sotto, Alice Dixson, Tweetie de Leon, Charito Solis, Aiza Seguerra, and Oyo Sotto, among many other artists.
She was last seen on local TV on the GMA sitcom “Vampire Ang Daddy Ko.”
According to the former TV actress, she is happy that she gets to bond with her fellow Filipino actors who are also based in the United States, such as Rufa Mae Quinto, LJ Moreno, and Donita Rose.
However, living alone in Northern California for almost four years now, Jinky also admitted to dealing with homesickness. She has a 26-year-old son, but he is married and lives with his in-laws in Florida.
“I didn’t expect to be homesick. Homesick is real ’cause here, when you’re doing nothing, you’ll get bored because you have no one to talk to,” she said.
Jinky said she’s dating and “getting to know” someone at the moment, but she was also still adjusting to the relationship culture in the US.
In a recent YouTube vlog with Rufa Mae and LJ, she shared that was working as a security personnel after months of being an on-call caregiver.
