‘Pepito Manoloto: Ang Unang Kuwento’ to give off nostalgic ’80s vibes

“Pepito Manoloto: Ang Unang Kuwento” is set to give off a nostalgic ’80s vibes as the series takes viewers back to the start of Elsa and Pepito’s love story.

According to Michael V., who played the older Pepito, they were able to exercise their creativity while working on the series which was based in the recent past.

“Mas may freedom ’yung creative group to explore the possibilities and ’yung limitation ng characters,” he said in an interview with GMA News Online.

Bitoy said the new season would show the side of Pepito and the other characters which the audience had not yet seen before.

The Kapuso comedy genius added that it was nice to create stories based in the past that could only be seen and shared now.

“Maganda yung setting niya, ’80s, saka madaming difference talaga dito sa modern world. Ang dami ng difference na na-experience namin versus what we have right now, versus ’yung what we have to explore,” he said.

Manilyn Reynes, who played the present-day Elsa, said the series would also tell stories from before her character and Pepito met.

For Mikee Quintos, the younger Elsa, one of the best things about the show is the attention to detail. She said she liked the ’80s school setup and the day-to-day living depicted in the series.

“’Yung gumagawa ng mga school activities na normal at nasa ’80s pa ang set so mga sikat noon, ultimo ano binibili sa tindahan, tapos mga cover ng notebook, the details, watch out for the details,” she said.

“Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kwento,” which will premiere on July 17, will also feature Sef Cadayona as the young Pepito. – RC, GMA News
