Bearwin Meily gets emotional as he details life, struggles after showbiz

Bearwin Meily couldn’t help but feel emotional as he detailed how his and his family’s life came to be after his showbiz career.

In a “Tunay Na Buhay” episode, Bearwin shared that he went into sports organizing after TV opportunities dried up following his weight loss.

“I was blessed by God in sports organizing,” he said in Filipino. “I think more than 10 years, I was organizing basketball leagues, marathons, fun runs and sports apparel,” he said.

At some point, Bearwin thought he’s had enough of these events and decided to become a motivational speaker in various places including churches and companies.

With these jobs, the comedian was able to save enough money to buy their family’s dream house. Unfortunately, they had to sell it in 2019 when opportunities were rough.

“Wala pa kaming maisip na business, hindi namin mabayaran yung bahay,” he said. “Down the line, kahit ayaw namin, masakit sa amin, binenta namin. We let go and let God.”

["We couldn't think of a business, we couldn't pay for the house. Down the line, even if we didn't want to, even if it hurt, we sold the house."]

After selling, Bearwin realized that doing so was a blessing in disguise from God since the lockdowns started because of the COVID-19 threat.

“There is winning in losing,” he said. “Nawalan kami ng bahay pero kaya niya pala inallow ‘yon para meron kaming pang-kain everyday.”

Apart from continuing to serve God, Bearwin’s family now owns a corndog business called “Corny Doggy,” which has been up for almost two months.

Bearwin said he is the all-around worker in this new venture of theirs — from opening and closing the store, preparing their items to even cooking. He’s got it “by God’s grace.”

Determined to still share some laughs with his audience, Bearwin decides to include jokes on the orders which his two kids stick on the packages themselves.

“Each and every sticker, until now, I’m emotional with this because it’s really hard work. Yung mga anak ko nagdidikit niyan. Hundreds of boxes, food trays almost everyday.”

Bearwin said they consider the business a new blessing from God and they are going to make it successful not for the sake of money, but because it was given to them.

“If we pray, God works. Everything, it’s not easy. Itong place, recipe, concept, the family, it’s all galing sa Kanya,” he said.

“Nakita ko na yung sobrang yaman namin, nakita ko na yung sadsad namin. Bukod sa hirap at yaman namin, nakita ko kung gaano kabuhay ang Diyos sa amin,” he added.

Apart from the business, Bearwin said his greatest blessings are his wife and two children who stood by him through thick and thin. Yahoo yahoo! — Franchesca Viernes/LA, GMA News
