More uncontrollable laughter is surely coming your way, because Pokwang is now officially a Kapuso!
The award-winning actress, comedian, and television host signed a contract with GMA Artist Center on Friday, June 18.
In an interview with GMA reporters, Pokwang said she was “super thankful” and “excited” to become part of the Kapuso family.
“My journey is very colorful and there have been many obstacles, but I made it through all of them,” she said in Filipino, adding that now, “there’s a rainbow after the rain.”
Pokwang was also grateful for the warm welcome she received after transferring to the network.
“Mga Kapuso, unang-una po sa lahat maraming salamat po sa napakasayang pagtanggap po sa akin sa pagbukas ng inyong mga pintuan,” she said.
[To all Kapuso, first of all thank you so much for the warm welcome and opening your doors.]
“Makakaasa po kayo na ako po ay magbibigay ng karagdagang saya, ngiti at rainbow sa ating buhay araw araw. Maraming maraming salamat po and God bless us all.”
[You can trust that I’ll give more happiness, smiles and rainbows to your everyday life. Thank you so much.]
Pokwang already had lots of projects lined up for Kapuso viewers.
To her delight, she’s expected to star in the upcoming season of “Pepito Manaloto” and make a guest appearance on “The Boobay and Tekla Show.”
Pokwang told veteran showbiz reporter Lhar Santiago that that’s what she had always wanted to do—go back to comedy.
“Sobrang tuwang-tuwa po ako na ’yung mga in-expect ko, na natupad kaagad,” she said.
[I’m very happy that what I expected to happen came true.]
Pokwang will also be part of the monthlong 19th anniversary celebration of GMA-7’s drama anthology “Wish Ko Lang,” which will kick off in July.
Pokwang, whose real name is Marietta Subong, is known for her incredible sense of humor and performances on film and television.
She has received numerous recognitions throughout her career, including an award for Best Comedy Actress from the Movie Press Club.
