Sef Cadayona, Mikee Quintos to play young Pepito and Elsa on ‘Pepito Manaloto’ prequel

It’s official: Sef Cadayona and Mikee Quintos are set to portray the young versions of Pepito and Elsa on the prequel of “Pepito Manaloto” titled “Ang Unang Kwento.”

On Lhar Santiago’s “24 Oras” report, Wednesday, Sef and Mikee said both of them felt glad yet overwhelmed and nervous to play the iconic roles.

They said they didn’t expect to fill such big shoes because Michael V. and Manilyn Reynes played the original characters. They were very happy, though, to get guidance from the veterans.

“They didn’t give us any pressure. Actually, they even told us to not worry since they will be guiding us,” Sef said in a mix of English and Filipino.

“They’re very supportive. We were able to be with them during the story conference and we got to ask a few questions and they’re very welcoming,” Mikee added.

Sef also said that he’s thankful to work alongside Michael V. on “Bubble Gang” so he already knew how the actor moved.

Mikee, meanwhile, has worked with Manilyn on “The Lost Recipe” and “Dear Uge.”

“Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kwento” would air July 17 and tell Elsa and Pepito’s love story which started in the ’80s. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
