Bearwin Meily reveals he had to sell his dream house amid pandemic

Bearwin Meily recently opened up about how recent financial troubles have forced his family to sell their dream home.

In an interview with Ogie Diaz posted on YouTube, the actor and comedian turned emotional while talking about the challenges he has been facing since before the pandemic even began.

First, Meily said it has been a while since he was able to do a TV project.

“Bago pa man mag-pandemic, tinamaan na 'ko. Bago pa naman mag-pandemic, hindi na ko nabibigyan ng chance sa TV. Huli natin yun, ‘yung ‘Home Sweetie Home’, matagal na yon” he said.

[I was hit even before the pandemic began. Before the pandemic even began, I was not given any more chances for TV. 'Home Sweet Home' was my latest project, and that was a while ago.]

Meily also recalled his unsuccessful attempt at a councilor position in Taytay, Rizal.

“Tumakbo akong konsehal dito sa Taytay. Hindi rin naman pinalad. So at first maghahagilap ka. Pero kapag wala ka nang aasahan dito, walang industriya, walang trabaho, hindi ka nanalo, so wala kang ibang kakapitan kung 'di ang Diyos,” he said.

[I ran for councilor in Taytay. I didn't get lucky either. So you'll need to do some adjusting at first, but if you don't have anyone else to rely on, there's no industry, no jobs, you didn't win, you'll have nobody to cling on to except God.]

The situation eventually forced Meily to sell his house, which he could no longer pay for.

“You surrender in a sense na kahit hindi mo matanggap na ibenta mo 'yung bahay mo, ibebenta mo, e. Binenta namin 'yung bahay namin. One thing, wala kaming pambayad. Kesa maremata ng banko, binenta ko. So, nagre-rent na lang kami ngayon," he added.

[You surrender in a sense that, you will sell your house even if you don't want to. For one thing, we didn't have the money to pay for it. Instead of having the bank call it off, I decided to sell it... So we just rent a place now.]

Although he was glad to be relieved of the financial "stress" of paying for it, Meily admitted it was difficult for his family to let go of the house.

"Dream house namin 'yon," the actor said, tearing up.

"Nung ginagawa 'yun, kasama 'yung mga anak ko, designing the house. Lahat 'yun…s'yempre masakit 'yon."

[It was our dream house. My children took part in designing the house. That hurt, of course.]

Still, despite all the challenges he had to face, Meily said he never lost faith and continues to be thankful for all his blessings.

"I always say: People will disappoint you, but God never will," he said.

"Hindi ka iiwanan ng Diyos. Kahit wala kang pera, magkakaroon ka parin ng kasiyahan, and sobarang happy ako kasi ang asawa ko, nagmamahalan kami, hindi kami nagkakaroon ng malaking problema, 'yung mga anak ko okay din."

[God will never leave you. Even if you don't have any money, you'll still be happy, and I'm so happy because my wife and I love each other, we don't have any big problems, and our kids are okay.]
