Raymund Marasigan on Eraserheads’ friendship: ‘It’s not a secret that we’re not close’

Raymund Marasigan echoed Ely Buendia in saying the Eraserheads members were not really close.

In the podcast “Offstage Hang” that he cohosts with Darren Lim, the Sandwich frontman said, "it's not a secret that we're not close. In this age of social media, if you check for the past 10 years, 20 years, our feeds as individuals, you will see who we are hanging out with.”

“It’s not a secret ever since,” he added, though followed it up saying, “I will not speak for the band, I will not speak for Buddy or Marcus or Ely, [but] I consider everybody my friend in the band.”

Raymund said he is very much “aware” that they are not close in terms of the fact that they don’t text each other even they he has their numbers.

But "over the years," after the Eraserheads had disbanded, he’s gotten close to Buddy.

According to Raymund, their way of bonding as the Eraserheads was through playing and jamming together, which he thinks still has a “connection.”

“In the studio, we have very strong personalities and it’s not a secret na kami ni Ely yung nagbabanggaan,” he said.

“Pero it’s not even fighting and I think it’s part of the chemistry,” Raymund added. “I don’t think we were enemies. Well, at least speaking for myself.”

He also gave a special mention to the Eraserheads’ producer, Robin Rivera, whom he described as their “glue.”

“He would make sense of what everybody was thinking kasi we were kids, we wanted to try so many things,” he said. “He would put everything together.”

According to Raymund, although the members have their differences, he respects each of them but they are “just not close.”

And in another rare show of agreement, Raymund backed Ely’s recent revelation that the hit “Minsan” isn’t about the band.

“The song, I think is about Ely’s roommates. We are not batch mates in Kalayaan. He was talking about those guys who I know din kasi barkada niya ‘yon eh,” he said.

“Those are the people that he talks about in ‘Minsan.’ It’s not about the Heads,” he added.

This isn't the first time Raymund Marasigan made mention about their, erm, relationships. Last year, Raymund said an Eheads reunion wasn’t possible because they “can’t get along.” — Franchesca Viernes/LA, GMA News
