Rita Daniela among best actress nominees at 11th International Film Festival Manhattan in New York

Rita Daniela is among the nominees for best actress at the 11th International Film Festival Manhattan in New York.

According to Aubrey Carampel’s “24 Oras” report Tuesday, the Kapuso actress earned the nomination after starring in the film “In the Name of the Mother.”

With this recognition, Rita got emotional and expressed how she was feeling.

“The fact that they noticed me, they appreciated my work in that film, it makes my heart flutter. That’s why I cried because it’s exciting and it makes me happy,” she said in Filipino.

Rita said their director, Joel Lamangan, was the first one to acknowledge the milestone, so she was very thankful for his guidance.

“He told me, ‘congratulations in advance. You did great with this movie. Thank you for giving a good work,’” she recalled in a mix of English and Filipino.

“That’s why I remember that when I saw the nomination, I said, ‘okay, so I guess what the director said was true,’” she continued.

Snooky Serna, who starred alongside Rita, is also nominated for the same category. Lamangan, meanwhile, is nominated for Best Director Feature.
